WE TRAVEL ABROAD TO SERVE PATIENTS WITH DIABETES IN MEXICO AND NIGERIA

Since 2005, Retina Care International has traveled to Yucatan, Mexico a total of 21 times conducting week-long Diabetic Retinopathy Outreach Screening Campaigns in cities and towns that include Merida, Progresso, Ticul, Mani, Peto, Tizimin, and Valladolid. We will be returning to Yucatan in May-June 2025 for another such campaign.
In February 2024, Retina Care International traveled to Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria to conduct an inaugural Diabetic Retinopathy and Cataract Screening Campaign and will be returning for another such campaign in the first quarter of 2025.
We Screen

All patients with Diabetes Mellitus from around the region are invited to be screened free of charge for Diabetic Retinopathy, Cataract, and Glaucoma.

We Treat

Since 2005, greater than 1000 patients have received free medical and surgical care that includes Retinal Laser Photocoagulation, Vitrectomy and Scleral Buckling Surgeries, Glaucoma Laser Procedures, and Cataract Extraction.

We Educate

Every campaign provides the opportunity to teach the local Ophthalmologists and Optometrists the latest medical and surgical techniques for the management of the various Diabetic-related eye disorders

We Fund

Financial assistance for the purchase of state-of-the-art ophthalmic instruments and equipment has been provided to our RetimediQ and AIHWA partners. Funding has also been provided for the construction of stand alone Ophthalmology Clinics in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico and Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.
